NFL Recent Player News
|12/12/2018||Allen Robinson II, Chi, WR|
|Robinson was held out of Wednesday's practice due to a sore hip.
Analysis: It's unclear as of now whether Robinson's injury is a concern or simply a minor one. He's been held under 45 receiving yards in three of Chicago's last four games and doesn't have a touchdown over that stretch, though he's still getting a fair amount of targets.
|12/12/2018||Rashaad Penny, Sea, RB|
|Penny was held out of Wednesday's practice as he continues to deal with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Penny played on the gimpy ankle Monday against the Vikings and contributed 44 yards on eight carries as the No. 2 back behind Chris Carson. Expect similar usage if the rookie is active for this week's game at San Francisco.
|12/12/2018||Austin Hooper, Atl, TE|
|Hooper was held out of Wednesday's practice due to knee and ankle injuries.
Analysis: It's unclear if this is simply a maintenance day for Hooper, who's emerged as a solid fantasy tight end by posting career highs of 64 catches and four touchdowns in his third NFL season.
|12/12/2018||Julio Jones, Atl, WR|
|Jones did not practice Wednesday due to a foot issue.
Analysis: Same routine as last week, right before Jones went off for eight catches, 106 yards and two touchdowns against the Packers. There's no concern about the elite receiver's availability for Sunday's game against Arizona.
|12/12/2018||Ezekiel Elliott, Dal, RB|
|Elliott (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, though his absence is believed to be merely for maintenance purposes.
Analysis: Fantasy owners shouldn't be overly concerned about Elliott skipping a day. He'll be locked in as usual as a RB1 when the surging Cowboys visit the Colts this weekend.
|12/12/2018||T.Y. Hilton, Ind, WR|
|Hilton did not practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury.
Analysis: Missing practices has been nothing new for Hilton in recent weeks, though it certainly hasn't affected him come game time. The playmaking wideout figures to play Sunday against the Cowboys and should have a chance to eclipse the 100-yard mark for the fourth time in five games.
|12/12/2018||David Johnson, Ari, RB|
|Johnson did not practice Wednesday due to a quadriceps injury but is expected to play Sunday at Atlanta.
Analysis: Arizona's dreadful offense has held Johnson back in what's been an injury-free campaign thus far, but the onetime fantasy star draws a very favorable matchup this week in the Falcons' sieve-like defense.
|12/12/2018||Ryan Tannehill, Mia, QB|
|Tannehill, who briefly left the Dolphins' Week 14 win over New England after turning his right ankle, practiced Wednesday and will start Sunday at Minnesota.
Analysis: Tannehill has played quite well since returning from a right shoulder injury that sidelined him for five games. In three games since coming back, he's completed 69.1 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and just one interception while producing a 129.9 quarterback rating.
|12/12/2018||Quincy Enunwa, NYJ, WR|
|Enunwa missed a second straight practice Wednesday due to a lingering ankle injury.
Analysis: Enunwa, who leads the Jets with 38 receptions, has been dealing with the injury for quite some time, so it's likely he'll gut it out once again when the Jets host Houston on Saturday. With a mere 31 yards on five catches over his last two games, he won't be a desirable fantasy choice.
|12/12/2018||Elijah McGuire, NYJ, RB|
|McGuire practiced Wednesday after being held out of Tuesday's session by an ankle injury.
Analysis: McGuire could work as the Jets' No. 1 back if he's active Saturday against the Texans, as Isaiah Crowell is uncertain to play due to a lingering toe injury. McGuire had 83 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown with Crowell absent for most of New York's Week 14 victory at Buffalo.
|12/12/2018||Mychal Kendricks, Sea, LB|
|According to ESPN, Kendricks suffered a fractured tibia in Monday's game against Minnesota and will miss the remainder of the season.
Analysis: That will end a challenging season for Kendricks, who was released by the Browns just before Week 1 and later served an eight-game suspension for being indicted in an insider trading case. He had been starting in place of K.J. Wright, who's also missed considerable time this year due to a knee injury.
|12/12/2018||Bryce Callahan, Chi, CB|
|Callahan has been placed on injured reserve after breaking his foot in the Bears' Week 14 win over the Rams.
Analysis: Callahan is one of the league's better slot corners and has started 10 of Chicago's 13 games. Special teams ace Sherrick McManis is in line to take over that role but likely represents a downgrade.
|12/12/2018||Lamar Jackson, Bal, QB|
|Ravens coach John Harbaugh announced that Jackson will remain the starting quarterback for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay with Joe Flacco serving as the backup.
Analysis: Jackson should now be considered the Ravens' quarterback going forward, though that could quickly change should the rookie face-plant against the Bucs. The former Heisman Trophy winner should be viewed as a lower-end QB1 for fantasy, as he's consistently produced points with his running ability but hasn't topped 178 passing yards in any of his four starts.
|12/12/2018||Carson Wentz, Phi, QB|
|NFL.com is reporting that Wentz is not expected to play Sunday against the Rams. The Eagles' franchise quarterback is dealing with soreness and spasms in his back.
Analysis: The report adds that Wentz could theoretically miss the rest of the season should the Eagles fall out of the playoff picture. Nick Foles looks likely to start for at least this week and will be a popular pickup off the waiver wire.
|12/11/2018||Corey Clement, Phi, RB|
|Clement has been placed on IR with a right knee injury, ending his season.
Analysis: Even when on the field, Clement has failed to be a reliable fantasy option this season and he hasn't had more than eight carries since Week 6.
|12/11/2018||Courtland Sutton, Den, WR|
|Sutton returned to a limited practice Wednesday after sitting out Tuesday's session with a thigh injury.
Analysis: The rookie, now Denver's de facto No. 1 receiver following Emmanuel Sanders' recent season-ending injury, appears on track to play Saturday against the Browns. Sutton had a disappointing 14 yards on two catches last week against the 49ers, though the injury may have contributed to that low output.
|12/11/2018||Spencer Ware, KC, RB|
|Ware is listed as doubtful for Thursday's game against the Chargers due to a hamstring injury he sustained in Kansas City's Week 14 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Ware was able to finish out Sunday's game but looks likely to be held out with Kansas City on a short week. The Kareem Hunt-less Chiefs figure to use a tandem of Damien Williams and the recently re-signed Charcandrick West if Ware indeed doesn't play.
|12/11/2018||Ben Roethlisberger, Pit, QB|
|Roethlisberger was held out of Wednesday's practice as he deals with sore ribs.
Analysis: The injury isn't going to keep Big Ben from playing Sunday against the Patriots, though it wouldn't be surprising if the Steelers sit him out another day of practice.
|12/10/2018||Matt Milano, Buf, LB|
|Bills starting linebacker Matt Milano has had surgery to repair a broken left leg and will miss the remainder of the season.
Analysis: Coach Sean McDermott provided the update on Monday, a day after Milano broke his fibula in a 27-23 loss to the New York Jets. Milano was hurt when his leg became twisted in a pile after he stopped quarterback Sam Darnold from scoring at Buffalo's 1 on third-and-goal from the 4 with 1:22 remaining.
|12/10/2018||Tyreek Hill, KC, WR|
|The Chiefs have listed Hill (heel) as questionable for Thursday's game against the Chargers.
Analysis: Hill was limping at times during Sunday's game against the Ravens but still managed to record 139 yards on eight catches in Kansas City's overtime victory. The dynamic wide receiver also put in limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday, so it looks like he'll be able to help out fantasy playoff teams in this important AFC West showdown.
