No. 5 Villanova storms back to beat Vols

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) Fifth-ranked Villanova walked into the locker room at halftime facing a double-digit deficit against Tennessee and several players battling foul trouble.

The way coach Jay Wright figured, there was at least one positive note: His Wildcats should be fresh and ready to roll out of the break.

Jalen Brunson scored 25 points to help Villanova rally from 15 down and beat Tennessee 85-76 in Thursday's semifinals at the Battle 4 Atlantis, earning a trip to the championship game.


The other Porter helps Missouri to win

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (AP) Jordan Geist scored 16 points, freshman Jontay Porter had a season-best 15 and Missouri routed Long Beach State 95-58 Thursday in the opening round of the Advocare Invitational.

Missouri (4-1) played for the first time since announcing Tuesday that standout freshman Michael Porter Jr., the brother of Jontay Porter, will miss the rest of the season following lower back surgery. The expected recovery time is three to four months. Michael Porter played just two minutes in the season opener against Iowa State.


Beverly helps NC State top No. 2 Arizona

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas (AP) From the day he was hired, new North Carolina State coach Kevin Keatts promised his team would play an aggressive style that didn't back down from competing with anyone.

Trump calls LaVar Ball 'ungrateful fool'

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) President Donald Trump started off his first day of Thanksgiving vacation Wednesday by resuming his taunts of the father of a UCLA basketball player detained for shoplifting in China, calling him an "ungrateful fool."

In a series of tweets fired off before dawn, the president complained yet again that LaVar Ball, father of LiAngelo Ball, hasn't given him credit for the release of his son and two other UCLA basketball players after they were accused of shoplifting while in China for a basketball game.


Miami, Utah to play in '18 Wooden Legacy

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) Miami, Northwestern and Utah are among the eight schools that will play in the 2018 Wooden Legacy men's college basketball tournament.

Next year's field for the tournament to be played Nov. 22, 23 and 25 was announced Thursday.


No. 8 Kentucky finally gets decisive win

Walker shaky in return home, Miami wins

READING, Pa. (AP) A line of fans wearing Reading High School state championship sweatshirts had formed more than 90 minutes before tipoff. They were eagerly awaiting a chance to get inside and see the local kid who has brought so much pride to this struggling town.

That Lonnie Walker IV didn't shoot well didn't damper the enthusiasm on a night that was bigger than basketball.


Clark leads No. 12 Cincy to Cayman title

GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands (AP) Gary Clark scored 17 points, Kyle Washington had his first double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds, and No. 12 Cincinnati won the inaugural Cayman Islands Classic 78-53 over Wyoming on Wednesday night.

Clark was named the MVP of the three-game event with 49 points, 28 boards and seven assists. Jacob Evans was also on the all-tournament team for the Bearcats.


No. 10 USC hits 12 3s to ease by Lehigh

LOS ANGELES (AP) Jonah Mathews found out as a freshman that nothing is guaranteed at USC. Starting lineups are decided by performances in practice and scrimmages.

The sophomore impressed in the preseason and is keeping it up now that games count.
